Hi all,
Regular viewers of the show will know my old mate Col Sinclair, who is one of my main contacts when fishing at Eucumbene. Col has had some good fishing of late but recently a trout decided to even the score.
Here's Col's re-counting of what was a truly bizarre incident.
While out with a mate last week on the Eucumbene River I had one of my weirdest trout moments. I had managed to catch a magnificent male brown around the 10lb mark, one of those fish of a life time (you know what I mean). Well, I had done all the work and got a few shots of him while he was still in the water.
But they never do the fish or the angler justice so I gave my mate John my camera, for a group shot of me and the monster Brown.
First mistake - they do say never work with kids or animals!
So picture this, I'm standing in the beautiful Eucumbene River with this magnificent brown trout in my hands while John is stuffing around with the camera and the trout starts to get restless. The next thing its wriggling around like a tired 2-year old. So I pull it in closer to my chest. Now he has one look at me and freaks out, not that I blame him, smashes me with his open mouth and leaps to freedom, leaving me standing with what I thought was a broken nose, fine teeth marks down one side of my nose, top and bottom lip and blood everywhere.
I'm still having nightmares about the whole experience. And John? Well he is still laughing about the trout that mugged the guide!!!!
- end -
Looking at Col Sinclair's face, you'd think he's been attacked by a bear! Still, Col - I hope you're on the mend and tangling with more of those 10lb browns. Only try and keep them on the end of your line and not your nose...
If you're keen on chasing one of these Eucumbene Brown's, you can get in touch with Col at the Adaminaby Angler.
Tight Lines!
Rob
