2010 Episode Two - Fishing the Edge

An episode that will delight both fresh and saltwater anglers alike as Rob visits one of the most remote corners of Australia as he and the team travel to the south east corner of Tasmania for a special fishing experience.

Every fly angler's dream is to cast at a trout over 10 pounds and when Rob gets the chance to target fish well over this mark, his excitement is understandable. Big trout in a remote wilderness setting clearly demonstrate just why Tassie is considered one of the world's best fly fishing destinations.

And the action doesn't stop there. Shifting focus from fresh to saltwater, Rob journeys to Eaglehawk Neck, a spot he last visited as a child, in the hope that the fishing is still as good. With Australia's highest seaside cliffs providing the backdrop, Rob faces a somewhat unexpected tussle with some Tassie "locals" as he attempts to boat his target, a prized bluefin tuna.

You can read more detail about Rob's journey back to Eaglehawk Neck in Rob's Blog Entry.

FISH'N'TIP

One of the key techniques demonstrated by Rob Paxevanos in this epsiode was the use of Williamson Assist Hooks to rig a Rapala X Rap lure with a single trailing hook specifically for targeting Bluefin Tuna.  For more information on how to create and use this rig please see our Assist Hook page.
