We kick off a brand new season of Fishing Australia with an epic wilderness fishing adventure not to be missed as host Rob Paxevanos and the team venture into the remote Macleay Valley located in the New England region of New South Wales in search of big Aussie Bass.
At its source, the Macleay River starts as a series of small streams and pools that rise in the pristine high country of the New England area, some 1,100 metres above sea level. Gradually these small streams join and with time their water has carved the massive Macleay Valley gorge, forming the second highest set of waterfalls in Australia in the process.
Hidden away in this Valley is some of Australia's best bass fishing. These tough Aussie fish travel long distances, moving from pool to pool as water levels in the river rise and fall. Given the remoteness and inaccessible nature of the terrain, Rob and the team must take to kayaks, helicopters and even a little horseback riding. All in pursuit of some awesome sports fishing action, right in middle of a scorching Australian Summer heat wave! Spectacular wilderness scenery and big bass in pristine freshwater pools and waterways coupled with some true blue Aussie characters and lots of wildlife. It all adds up to a fantastic start to the 2010 Season.
