Ningaloo Reef in the turquoise waters off Exmouth in Western Australia is the world’s largest fringing coral reef system at 250km in length. It’s also renowned as a world hot spot for bonefish. And in this episode, host Rob Paxevanos demonstrates saltwater fly fishing with a difference... in a purpose-built fishing kayak!

The Ningaloo Marine Park is teaming with tropical marine life, and we take in all the beauty of the underwater paradise of sea turtles, dolphins, dugongs, coral and plenty of fish swimming just inches below the surface.

After some initial exploration, it’s time for Rob to test out his purpose-built kayak, the new Hobie Pro Angler. Rob puts the vessel (it's more like a boat than a kayak) well and truly through it's paces.  A thorough workout ensues as he hooks a decent-sized golden trevally on his fly fishing rob.  After being towed left right and centre, a close quarters battle ensures as a bommie beckons...  Some deft rod work helped in no small way by the manoeuvrability and stability of the Pro Angler (and perhaps a touch of luck?) sees Rob snag his quarry.

To top off a great trip, Rob teams up again with Guide Brett Wolf and utilises all his fly fishing prowess to hook a bonefish, the ultimate prize for saltwater fly fishermen!

While in Exmouth, Rob also put another new product through its paces, the new Sufix flurocarbon leader material and in particular, the "Sufix Invisiline" product.  Rob will review the Sufix flurocarbon leader in more detail in an up and coming Blog.
